Dirk Hendricks, senior policy advisor at the law firm Becker Büttner Held (BBH) in Brussels, has been appointed Secretary General of EREF. He will continue the successful work of EREF in close cooperation with EREF Director and BBH partner Dr. Dörte Fouquet, who has been a strong advocate for a system change towards renewable energy for more than 20 years.
EREF represents the interests of national renewable energy assocations from all over the EU in Brussels. EREF sees itself as the voice of independent players producing all types of renewable energy under strict sustainability criteria and is committed to the interests of citizen projects, energy communities and small and medium-sized companies (SMEs).
Since 2015, Dirk Hendricks has been working for both BBH and EREF as senior policy advisor. As former Secretary General of the European Small Hydropower Association (ESHA) and Director of the EU Liaison Office of the World Future Council Foundation, Dirk Hendricks focused primarily on the promotion of renewable energy in the EU and Africa. He participated in the development of the recent Renewable Energy Directive and specialised in financing schemes in the area of renewable energy. His wide experience has provided him with in-depth knowledge of environmental topics. The joint expertise of Dr. Dörte Fouquet and Dirk Hendricks at the BBH Brussels office thus perfectly complements the team of renewable energy experts at the German BBH offices.
Becker Büttner Held is a leading provider of advisory services for energy and infrastructure companies and their customers. Energy and supply companies, particularly public utilities, municipalities and local authorities, industrial companies and international groups are among its core clients. BBH advises these and many other companies and organisations in all legal matters and also assists them with business and strategic advice.
