On 29/11/2019, Dr. Wolfgang Danner was presented with an honorary volume of essays on the occasion of his 80th birthday. The presentation ceremony took place at the premises of the Munich-based publishing house C.H.BECK. Dr. Danner, former president of Germany’s Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA), was partner of counsel at BBH from 2004 to 2013 and has been collaborating with C.H.BECK for many years. Since 1974, he has been author – and later also co-editor – of the commentary on energy law Danner/Theobald “Energierecht”, which has been published since 1937.

In the run-up to Dr. Danner’s 80th birthday in July 2019, 33 renowned experts, including lawyers, judges and experts from regulatory and cartel authorities as well as the academic world, collaborated to create a volume of essays (Festschrift) dedicated to Dr. Danner. The volume also serves as a compendium on current questions and aspects of German as well as European energy law. Numerous BBH lawyers are among the contributors.

The presentation ceremony was attended by publisher Dr. Hans Dieter Beck and Dr. Johannes Wasmuth, head of the legal editorial team, as well as the editors of the volume of essays, i.e. Peter Franke, Vice President of the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA), and Prof. Dr. Christian Theobald, partner at BBH. The attendees also included a large number of the contributors to the commentary on energy law and the volume of essays.
