Last exit decarbonisation: 25th BBH Energy Conference in Berlin almost booked up

BBH expects attendance figures to hit a new record high: with currently about 350 registrations received for its 25th Energy Conference taking place in Berlin on 26/27 June, this year’s conference is met with particularly great interest. No wonder: with sector coupling, BBH has chosen a topic that is of relevance to all sectors.

As if the restructuring of our energy system was not enough of a Herculean task already. For some time now, it has become clear that the energy transition is only half the battle. Climate policy objectives, decarbonisation and digital change can only be achieved if the energy sector and its adjacent sectors are considered as integrated systems. One of these sectors – transport – has very specific infrastructure problems and opportunities.

So, how may the energy, transport and environmental sectors be dealt with as one integrated system? This fundamental question will be discussed at the BBH conference. For its 25th Energy Conference on 27/06/2019, BBH has not only engaged State Secretary Rainer Baake (Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy – BMWi) and State Secretary Rita Schwarzelühr-Sutter (Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety – BMUB) as keynote speakers, but has also enlisted high-profile experts for three panel discussions to provide interdisciplinary insights for exciting debates. Prof. Dr Klaus Töpfer, former Federal Minister, will round off the event with an outlook on sector coupling.

For the first time this year, BBH’s annual conference will start with a symposium to be held on the day before. Taking place in a smaller format in the afternoon of 26/06/2017, the event featuring numerous experts from the world of politics, administration, business and science will focus on the transport transition (Verkehrswende).
