BBH appoints new partner to reinforce its Cologne team

After appointing two new partners and six new partners counsel at the beginning of the year, the law firm Becker Büttner Held (BBH) has again added to its management team: Lawyer Matthias Pöhl was made partner of the law firm on 1 July 2017 and will be relocating from BBH’s Munich office to Cologne.

A native of Bielefeld, Matthias Pöhl thus returns to his home turf: Having been based in the Bavarian capital for eight years, where he advised a large number of municipalities and energy supply companies on energy law and municipal business law in regard to various matters relating to energy infrastructure, Mr Pöhl will now continue his advisory work in the Rhine metropolis. With his practice focussing on concession contract law and grid takeovers, remunicipalisations and cooperations, Mr Pöhl is eminently qualified for the task ahead. “We have noted an increased demand for legal advice in the energy and municipal sector in North Rhine-Westphalia and the neighbouring federal states, which we would like to respond to. We have found exactly the right man for the job in Matthias Pöhl, who will continue to expand our advisory services in Cologne together with our partner Axel Kafka”, says BBH partner Dr Ines Zenke.

Becker Büttner Held is a leading provider of advisory services for energy and infrastructure companies and their customers. Energy and supply companies, particularly public utilities, municipalities and local authorities, industrial companies and international groups are among its core clients. BBH advises these and many other companies and organisations in all legal matters and also assists them with business and strategic advice.
